2011 Deer Season a Success

We are wrapping up the 2011 deer hunting season. Most of our clients went home with their trophy, and all with great memories. It’s fun, as a guide, to be part of others successful hunting quests and to witness, first hand, men’s childlike joy when they bag a buck of their life time. The other bonus for me this year was the friendships I built. When working with people that have a common goal, and achieve that goal, bonds are formed, and thats cool! The muzzleloader season is still on going and the late season archery continues through the end of the year. Feel free to call for openings and package deals.

My friend, guide, and taxidermist Shane Loshek arrowed this dandy behind our barn. I’ve seen no one that worked harder than Shane to bag a trophy. His knowledge of the woods, deer patterns, wind, and moon phases will help our clients bag their own trophy. Again we are capable of caring for your deer after the kill from caping, quartering, and freezing for your ride home. There are openings yet on our farm for bow hunting, the second season of shotgun muzzleloading and the late muzzleloader season.

2011 Bow Opener

We had a successful 2011 bow opener. Mike and Joel got a nice 8 point buck and a healthy doe on the first day. We still have openings for hunts and stays. It looks like it’s going to be a great deer season.

2011 Bow Season is Here

Two guys from Minneapolis coming down for the opener. They’ll be hunting awesome areas of the farm in well placed stands in an orchard, by a brassica food plot, or by a pond.

Playing Hooky

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny spring day here in Winona, MN. Perfect day to play hooky with my boys and a friend Ethan Krase. Pile of fish to clean, thank goodness for electric knives. Ended a perfect day with an awesome fish fry.

Silence of the Goats

Yesterday was a reminder that food comes wrapped in fur and feathers. Sixty percent of all red meat consumed in the world is goat. My three new friends from Rochester MN came to the farm purchased 4 of my critters and brought them home to their families. Goats not only eat thistles, buckthorn, and burdock they can be down right tasty. Time to expand the herd.

Wildlife Ponds and Food Plots

Shane Loshek and I are going full bore since we finally have some awesome weather. Our latest projects are establishing new food plots with brassicas, corn, beans and buck forage oats. We’re also rebuilding ponds on the ridges to help give the wildlife all they need. Hard to stay focused on projects when you know the morels are starting to pop.
